Some 62 turtle eggs hatched overnight in what is the first Turtle Nest in Gozo, in more than 70 years.
On Facebook, Nature Trust said that it all started shortly after 1am this morning and 62 eggs had been counted at 06:45am.
Two other nests are currently being protected and guarded – at Ghadira Bay and at Golden Bay. Both sites are subject to an ERA Emergency Conservation Order, and people are encouraged to not disturb the nests and to also keep noise to a minimum, as loggerhead turtles are highly sensitive.
