Eve Borg Bonello, a 16-year-old student and activist who was one of the key speakers at Sunday’s protest, has been receiving numerous death threats.
Borg Bonello delivered a powerful speech during the protest, calling for the end of Muscat’s ‘evil kingdom’. After Sunday’s protest, she began receiving numerous threatening messages, where she was told she will end up like Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Several protests have taken place over the past days, following the most recent developments in the investigation regarding Daphne Caruana Galizia.
The Malta Independent contacted Borg Bonello to get a clearer picture of what happened.
“It started when I began receiving death threats after I posted the speech. It was unbelievable; I started receiving threats and insults every few minutes from people I don’t know.”
After receiving numerous comments and messages attacking her and her family, she took the decision to file a police report. The police officer advised her not to go through the hassle of filing a police report and going to court “He also told me that if I don’t wish to receive such messages I should just keep my opinion to myself,” said Borg Bonello.
She added that though she does not exclude that the Police officer could have been well meaning, and after seeking legal advice, she returned to the same police station assisted by Dr Paul Borg Olivier to file an official police report. She has also posted on her social media that despite the comments she has been receiving; she “will continue to fight- for truth, for justice, for better Malta.”
