Fireworks season is fast approaching in Malta, and there’s nothing we love more than to watch rockets launch into the night’s sky with a boom.
The locations of this year’s Malta International Fireworks Festival have been revealed by 89.7 Bay.
The event, which is completely free, will be held over four spectacular nights in Mqabba, at Xaghra in Gozo and in Valletta with the grand finale taking place at The Granaries in Floriana, where the Isle of MTV Malta concert is held every summer.
The Malta Tourism Authority confirmed that the 18th edition of the spectacular festival will be bigger than ever and will take place between Wednesday 24 April and Saturday 4 May.
When and where will the Malta International Fireworks Festival be held?
- Wednesday 24 April – Mqabba
- Saturday 27 April – Xaghra, Gozo
- Tuesday 30 April – Valletta
- Saturday 4 May – The Granaries, Floriana
A spokesman for the Malta Tourism Authority said: ‘Each night promises to be an amazing display of colour and coordination – and the closing night is bound to be truly spectacular.’
The festival also has a competitive edge.
Each year, a contest takes place where the fireworks are designed to match the rhythm of a musical number.
Last year, Rozzi Fireworks from the USA won first place, followed by St Mary’s Fireworks Factory from Ghaxaq in Malta.
Phoenix Fireworks from the UK was third.
