England fans in Malta are celebrating after The Three Lions reached their first World Cup semi-final for nearly three decades.
England supporters went wild in the streets and bars of St Julian’s, Valletta, Bugibba, and Gozo as Gareth Southgate’s side beat Sweden 2-0.
Goals from Harry Maguire and Dele Alli earned England’s place in the last four of the tournament, as they dominated the match.
England will face either host nation Russia or Croatia in the semi-final played on July 11.
Former England defender Rio Ferdinand praised the team’s performance.
He told BBC1: ‘They deserve to enjoy this. They are through, and what an environment it is for them to be in right now.’
Ex-England winger Chris Wadle told BBC Radio 5 live: ‘Nobody would’ve thought England would make the semi-final ahead of the tournament.
‘They will not get an easier quarterfinal than that, Sweden didn’t offer anything apart from three good chances in the second half.
‘I think England have a good chance of progressing to the final as well.’
