There’s more good news for the Maltese economy.
New figures show Malta now has second lowest unemployment rate in the EU.
The jobless rate in Malta stands at 3.6 per cent – the same as in Germany.
Only the Czech Republic faired better with unemployment at 2.3 per cent.
The highest jobless rate remains in Greece at 20.7 per cent, followed by Spain with 16.4 per cent.
Europe’s economic recovery remains on track, with eurozone unemployment staying at its lowest level since January 2009.
The EU’s official statistics agency Eurostat announced that the jobless rate in the single currency area remained steady at 8.7 percent in December.
