A Libyan who was traveling to Cairo was on Saturday caught by Customs officers at the Malta International Airport carrying more than the €10,000 legal sum in cash money.
The Libyan was in possession of €11,3000, 2,060 in Egyptian bank notes and 140 Tunisian dinar.
He was carrying the money in a hand luggage while waiting to take the flight.
He told Customs officers he was unaware that he had to declare the money according to law as he was carrying more than €10,000, and said the money was meant for travel.
